ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO LOCK A RACK SO MY 4 YEAR OLD SON CAN GET MY SNOW HONDURANS "OUT TO PLAY" ?
I have not seen the new boaphile racks in person so I'm not sure if this will work.
If there is a bottom lip below the bottom shelf you can mount a small metal door handle there. Then on the very top shelf you can mount a metal loop like you find on some padlock door hasps. You may have to mount this to a small piece of wood on top of the rack.
Then take a piece of aluminum, about 2" x 1/8" and slightly taller than your rack. A hole will be drilled though the aluminum for the hasp to stick through. The aluminum drops down through the door handle and then the hasp stick through that hole.
You probably don't need an actual lock for the hasp but that would certainly work. You could probably clip one of these things you find at the end of dog leashes through it.
I'm sure my verbal description is of no help. If you go to the Habitat Systems webpage you can find pictures.
Sorry, I'm multi-tasking this AM... I forgot about this idea...
Push the boxes all the way to the back of the rack. If there's enough space in front of the box, drill a hole near the front edge of each shelf.
Buy a metal rod that drops down through all the holes. A small loop can be bent in the top of the rod that matches up with another loop mounted to the top of the rack. These two loops can be locked together.
This idea is likely easier to fabricate but requires the clearance above the rack to slide the rod all the way out.
