What type of Carpet is this?

tcjrvp Sep 03, 2004 10:54 AM

Here is a picture of my new Carpet. It was sold to me as a "High Yellow" Jungle. Is this right based on the photo? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. It seems weird that this would go from Dark Brown/Tan to Yellow/Black. I want to make sure I bought what I was told. Is this likely to be a high yellow jungle?

Ok, even tho this is just a guess, i'll explain why I said coastal...

The bilateral stripes are a coastal gene, people will argue that it can be found in jungles, ij's etc, but most of those in this country have been bred with coastals to get hight quantites of babies with decent colors.

The rusty/reddish brown tinting to the entire animal looks inland coastalish If it was red and grey i'd say IJ, but a complete tinting is more of a coastal trait.

This isn't to say that this animal won't get nice colors to it, but it's not a pure high yellow jungle, in fact i bet it keeps it's current colors, maybe the tint will fade away a bit, but the pattern will stay crisp and clean, with no black wash.

Just my two cents.

Looks like an Irian Jaya Carpet. Just as cool!

...If it was sold as a JCP Id say that its your best bet. The picture isn't a very good head shot so I can't get a good look at some of the usual markings. However it has a full stripe from the nose to the back of the head, which is usually found in Jungle and Jungle cross carpets. It is NOT a pure IJ that I can tell.

Why is it so hard to believe? They're in the same family as the Green Tree pythons. Have you seen how much they change from neonate to adult? Carpets hardly change at all compared to going from bright red/yellow to green/blue/yellow...Give the poor hatchling time. He'll suprise you

I don't think yours will turn black and yellow. Who sold you this so called "high yellow" JCP?
