Caging........HELP

I know many people use plastic show boxes to store the leos in and they use heat tape for the heat and so forth. I was wondering if this might work to make more space available in the room and so forth.

when you put your leos in and their hides.the boxes get hung up and don't fully close without a little work and jiggling it to get it to slide in. i tried those for a week and then i gave up and built a rack system. racks are much easier and they don't have as many problems either. i also found that with the rack you wouldn't spill the water by trying to jiggle the drawer. i hope this helps.

Well, If you create some rack system or have an empty bookshelf or something it would...but if you don't then having lots of plastic shoeboxes all over the room would get to be a pain. What about those "mini chest" things that they sell for storage??? There is three large bins that slide in and out and each bin could hold two babies (since clutches come in pairs). You could drill holes in the front of the bins and put heat tape on the bottoms. I know people who have had success keeping baby ball pythons in these so I thought it would work for leos. They aren't very expensive...2 of them alone would hold 18 babies. Just a thought!!!

I was thinking that those would work, like the ones from walmart or kmart. How does heat tape work, I've never used it before?

From what I have seen (I have never used it either) there is a plug and wire (I think you usually need to intstall your own plug and wire) and it is necessary to use a rheostat or even better, a thermostat when dealing with heat tape. If you are going to use those mini chests, make sure you don't put the heat tape on the part of the drawer that overlaps with the plastic structure of the chest. I would also use the 3 inch heat tape, and make a heated section of about 6 inches wide. After that, just drill some holds in the front and side of the box, put down a layer of paper towels, a humid hide, and a petri dish for water and you are good to go.
