A couple questions regarding kenyan breeding.

Randall_Turner Sep 03, 2004 11:32 AM

Hello all.

This season will be my first attempt breeding my kenyan sand boas. What I need to know is if my male flame will be good to go this season.. He is pushing the 1' mark size wise.. (don't have a current weight on him) and the female I will be using him on is a 22" female (she is approximately 4 years old) Will the male be able to handle the female? Or should I pick up a male flame that is the same size as the female? (I have a flame proven breeder I can get for 90 from a local breeder) Will my little male do the job or should I go ahead and pick up the proven male?

Also the the little male is approximately 18 months of age, so will be right at 2 years old when he is bred.

Thanks in advance for any info..

If the animal for $90 is a true flame, buy it anyway. The way things are going you probably can resell it for $150.
But anyway I had an 80 gram male breed a 400 gram female this year, no slugs.

I think I will go ahead and pick up both of the ones he has.. (a normal female, unlike any I have seen before) and a true flame male.. Darn it.. didn't want to spend more money but oh well..lol

Oh, what else would you spend it on? "food"? "rent"? .... "internet access"?
