I just constructed a metal rack very similar to a freedom breeder. Is it ok to primer it, then paint it? Or will they die if they chew on it? What would be the best way to finish the rack?

Sherwin Williams carries a product called DTM (direct to metal) that is acrylic based. I got my local store to call the lab and they insist that the paint is non-toxic and will not harm rodent or reptile. To date we have had no problems using the DTM.
