Isis has survived her surgery and is recovering very well. She is basking and doing her "business" now that her bowels are no longer compressed. She had the whole staff on their toes during her surgery, it was tricky but they did it. It turns out that she had several aborted eggs in her reproductive tract that where stuck and had slightly calcified. One of them had 2 yolks in it and a few blood vessels. Two others were free-floating in her abdomen (that part is still a mystery). The only worry now is that she may not be able to produce eggs anymore. This will have to be a wait-and-see scenario. The vet was very diligent and had pictures taken of Isis's surgery (I got to see the pics, they were pretty neat
) for his own reference. He admitted that she was a huge learning curve for him but it was a positive experience overall. I get the feeling that Isis will recover just fine. What a little trooper, I'm so proud of her.
Thank you for all your kind words and prayers, I really appreciate them. It looks like Isis will be with us for a good long time now.
