Can torts get depressed?

adiajsl Sep 03, 2004 09:32 PM

I was just wondering if torts can get depressed. I recently gave three russians to a breeder, I just had way too many. Now my russians dont seem to be eating as well. They will still eat out of my hand, but their is more leftover food on their plates than normal. Also, I did use provent a mite on my russians and sulcatas, but the sulcatas have no eating problems. Can anyone help?

from the situation you described i would say that your torts are not depressed. as for their diet i would guess that they just aren't as hungry this type of year. the amount my turtles eat usually depend on how much "movements" they are doing during the day or how much energy they are using up. just like in the winter when they are hibernating they don't need much food at all if any. so if its hot where you are they just might be saving their energy as to not over heat this is just a guess though
