I caught this guy in the FL keys, in what do you know, a mangrove! Some can be almost black, but the colors on this one are really outstanding.

The mangrove watersnakes are beautiful as are many other herps that can be found in the Keys. Some morphs tend to be exclusively insular animals, which is why ALL herps found in the Florida Keys are protected.
It is a great place to look, and wild when you find a snake under a board that was washed up from high tide, but look at them and leave them....enjoy the splendor the Keys have to offer, have a beer and peel&eat shrimp from a waterfront bar when your day is done. It doesn't get any better. But leave the herps behind for the next one to enjoy. It's illegal to take them. Wonderous memories can be had when you find them and leave...having just a good time. Sunsets there are made for talking about the days find with a satisfying drink in your hand, a friend by your side, & appreciating the beauty the Keys have to offer. We need to allow this captivating experience to be available to future generations.
Thank you,
Bob
