I caught this guy in the FL keys, in what do you know, a mangrove! Some can be almost black, but the colors on this one are really outstanding. I let this one go, but does anyone know anything about these for the future?(feeding, water salinity requirements, etc.?)

Gorgeous snake! I really need to get down to south Florida and catch some of those.

They do not really need anything special to be maintained in captivity. All of mine (7) are kept in glass aquariums of appropriate size. I have mine in semiaquatic setups but they'll do just fine on aspen shavings with a large water bowl. They do not need salt water at all. I'd suggest using a basking lamp so one side of the cage gets into the mid 80's for at least 4 hours a day. Mine are fed as many comets or rosey red minnows as they'll eat once a week and given a scented pink mouse every three weeks or so.

Thanks, also, its amazing how the red phase of these snakes have the EXACT same color as a wet mangrove root, it requires a double-take to tell what you're looking at.
