Question

civa Sep 04, 2004 08:23 AM

I am building a new cage for my Argus. What type of wood is more functional? Pine? Oak? Maple? Money is not an object but I want the best for my Argus. Also do you guys treat the wood before building the cage and is there a safe brand of sealant to use? Polyurethane?

Thank You in advance

Doug

Regardless of the wood you use, line the inside w/ shower board. there is a couple of different types out there( homedepot and such) in the long run it is much more durable, and less time consuming than say, brushing on a couple of coats of poly. Goodluck, Clint

i think your right....laminate to the inside with a non permeable surface...frp board is probably the best....froget the paint ....i painted osb board and wish now i just covered it with frp board...you have to keep in mind that substraight retains moisture..and paint doesn't hold up...at the very least cover the bottom of the cage and up 2 feet.make a tray...frp=fiberglass reinforcement pannels..like in a walk in cooler..........billy
