I think I am ready to buy a gila. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of reading material that I have found out there. What's the best way to keep these guys? Is it possible to sex them as babies? I am really interested in breeding these in the future.

Last night i came to this forum out of curiosity and i was wondering the same things.....With very little effort on my behalf i found 3 sites that would answer your questions all you have to do is poke around a little bit......try it. Google is a good search engine.

Look for Dr. Sewards site on Gilas
Try Bob Applegates site and Horridum Angelis Reptiles....

I love investigating things related to reptiles using search engines and reading previous posts on the forums....If your ready for a heloderma you ought to know how to keep them first. Not trying to be rude it just seems like common sense, thats all.

that goes with all animals even a dog or cat,to many people buy out of impulse and the animal only suffers...look at all the big wild cats, bears, etc that people think will tame down like a putty-tat...then thay cant handle them and keep them in a small cage piled with dung....so many stupid people out there...oh how about the alligator in the bathtub thang...or the roadside tourist traps in florida with green water and a hundred alligators in them ,like say wootens,or the one in bonita springs with gators legs bit off because of over crowding or the old leapord they have in a cage with an infected eye and crap all over the place,or the SUWANNEE zoo in lake city florida that closed down because the pot dealer starved all his animals and never gave them water.the time i was there the lady gave some old muffins ,maybe 7 or 8 to 5 wolf hybrids and that was there meal for the day or the skinny black bears that shared one watermelon for the day,sad but very true...and tom norris has the nadds to say well he has to many to care for and why are people complaining,,,well if you cant care for them give them to someone who can, instead he spends his donations on weed...sorry but i hate cruelty and neglect,,,or the corn snke breeder near tallahassee,,,oh we wont mention that filth
