Hey guys, 2 quick questions:
1) I am using peet moss for the bedding. I mist them once a day, how often should I clean the cage?
2) do you all mist often? instead of a humid hide, can I get a misting machine or something to that affect?
thanks

leopard gexs don't need a consitant high humity so i never really mist mine, they'll go into the humidity hut only when they need help shedding. The often perfer dry heat being deasert animals and all. peat moss never really used that for leopard gexs, but to each there own.
i agree daily misting is too much, desert animals don't need that and can/will develop respiratory problems. All they need is a constant humid hide.
Mine is a margerine container with paper towel thats sprayed daily and my substrate is tile and paper towel over their bathroom area.
It's not a good idea to keep them on peat moss. Dusty substrates are a sure way to lead to respiratory infections. Keeping moist peat moss in a humid hide while using a different substrate for the rest of the tank is a better alternative. There's no need to mist them at all unless they're babies and you don't have a humid hide or they're shedding and you don't have a humid hide.
