I am moving to New Mexico in December of this year and i can not find any laws pertaining to purchasing captive Gila's...Could someone with knowledge of New Mexico laws help me out...I do not have any at this time but may be interested in a few down the road...All i know is it is illegal to catch and keep wild caught.Thanks

Does no one know the laws ? I will call fish and game,just thought i could get help in a "forum" and maybe meet someone for future business...will look elsewhere to spend a part of my $450,000 settlement comming in December....should see my reptile house plans and huge enclosers...oh well,guess you "won't"

I know firsthand that New Mexico has allowed permits for residents to acquire and keep Gilas. I believe it is just a matter of applying for the permit. You’ll have to look into it with NM F&W (or F&G?) for more details.
