T-Rex dust question for you guys. IGUANA dust for Dragons?

rujonesin Sep 04, 2004 01:43 PM

I recently placed an order for some dragon dust but accidently ordered Iguana Dust VGF instead of Dragon dust. Does anyone know the differences in these two formulas? I bought 2 1/2 lbs and can exchange it but it is going to cost about $15 in shipping both ways to do it. Is there anything in the Iguana dust that is harmful to Bearded Dragons? I realize some people have serious concerns with the T-Rex dusts but I have had nothing but success with it. I'm just wondering if it is worth shipping it back for an exchange?

Thanks

Mike,
you read all those posts about the T-rex supps right? Just checking to see if you know what a bunch of people experienced on this Forum.

I have read most of them. For me I have really only seen positive results. I had a female that was laying that weighed 375 grams at 2 years old. In 8 months time she has gone to 550 grams. I also had another juvie that was stuck at the 220 gram mark. In two months time she was over 300 g and has now moved up to 350 g. She looks like she is still growing too. I guess I'm just stubborn and wait a little longer to jump onto any bandwagons. I do, however, continue to monitor my dragons and any posts on the matter. What I have gathered most from what I have read is if it is going to have a negative affect on your animals it happens fairly quickly. As my dragons have done well with it I continue to use it.

Thanks,
Mike

The Iguana vgf has slightly less protien and slightly more fiber then its dragon counterpart. The two fomulas have pretty much the same calcium and d3 levels as they are both growth formulas. If you feed crickets and/or pellets also, I would keep it and use it. It's good to hear you have great success with the products, there are many of us who are.

I feed my babies and juvies crickets with the ICB dust (which got ordered right). I am thinking that should be sufficient for them. My concern is more with the adults that only get crickets during the laying season. Right now they are mainly on salad and supplements. I want to make sure they are getting every thing they need too.

I didn't get to read the post on T-Rex dust. Could someone fill me in? Thanks in advance.

Take care,
