Vanilla in water bottle

I heard that a drop of vanilla extract in the water bottle (for mice) will help with the smell (urine). Has anyone else heard this or tried it?

i put a teaspoon of vanilla to every 2 liters of drinking water for my rats,it does make a difference.

does it matter if it is pure vanilla or immitation?

imitation only according to past posts,some said this formula got sticky in there automatic watering systems.works great in my bottles.have fun!
