Eating anoles

Lizarddude720 Sep 04, 2004 03:59 PM

Hi

My male bearded dragon likes to chase anoles when i have him outside but he never catches them. If he was to would it make him sick in any way. Ive asked some people over at my local pet store to see if it was ok. they said it was ok as lond as i dont put any kind of poison on the lawn. Has anyones bearded dragons eaten a brown anole befor? If they have what happened but if not i still would like your opinion.

Thanks
Paul

There's a high possilbity your beardie would become impacted. You also have to factor in the possibility of poisons and parasites. It's not worth the risk.

This just shows the limited thinking of pet store employees. It's okay if you don't put poison on your lawn. What if any of your neighbors did? Do they spray for mosquitos where you live?
That anole doesn't just live exclusively in your yard. Definately not worth the risk. In an outdoor enclosure you should have some sort of protection for keeping things away from your dragon, more specifically something that might want to eat it, but that should keep the anoles away too. I'm talking like a screened enclosure.
