Snapping turtles with Caimans?

dilberte Sep 04, 2004 07:47 PM

Hello everyone, just wondering if keeping a caiman in a small pond with a snapping turtle would create a conflict between the two species. Between like a common snapping turtle and a spectacled caiman, which one would be more prone to seriously injure or do harm to the other?
Thanks
~Mark

The sign on the Staurotypus triporcatus at my zoo says... that they have those ridges on their shells to protect them from getting eaten by crocodilians. I don't actually know the answer, or anything about alligators for that matter, I just felt like tossing that in. Snapping turtles are probably more docile than giant musk turtles.
