What kind of snakes are good "Display" snakes? Or which ones are mainly more active during the day?

Rough green snakes are primarily diurnal and are definitely more "display" snakes than "pet" snakes. They eat crickets, spiders, and any other inverts you toss in their cage. They need a tank with a lot of plant cover in it, whether live or fake, and vines would be great for them. They are native to much of the east and south US.

I have had pretty good luck with this species. I had mine for a long time. I think many people get them and try to handle them everyday. If you can, try to find one yourself. The ones that I have heard that died rather quickly were Petco snakes.

As Andy said, rough greens are good display snakes.

If you want one that sits out in an arboreal cage all day get a Jungle Carpet Python. They are docile with age and easy to provide a good habitat. Emerald Tree Boas are the ultimate display snake, but hard to keep and somewhat expensive.

For terrestrial snakes... only one that I know of that is constantly active is my Fox Snake.

I raise garter snakes, they are very active during the day. They come in a great variety of colors and are very easy to keep alive. You can check out Scott Felzer's website for some pics of various morphs or go to thamnophis.com, there are pics of most species on that site.
