AnnoyingGuy12 Sep 05, 2004 06:46 PM

Hi everybody im new here and i have a pacman and a baby whites treefrog. In the wtf tank i noticed small cricket eggs. After i while i noticed they were rotting and like attracting mold. i removed the eggs and the mold. This was like a few weeks ago. Now i see these small miniature i mean REALLY REALLY small bugs in the tank. But they look so much like crickets. Cud they be small baby crix? O and by the way i chnged the substrate and cleaned the tank out once i noticed them. Im just wondering wat they might be. Frog is plump and healthy looking always hiding in the mass of pothos. Thx for n e comments.

almost all little white bugs in the substrate are beneficial. they help break down poop and decaying plant matter. next time don't change the substrate and let them be. but if they are crix then go ahead and remove them.

I think that was good that you cleaned the cage, not taking any chances.

I wouldn't say to leave them be. If the tank was in need of white bugs to clean it, it should have been cleaned. Even daily spot cleaning, and taking out dead leaves wouldn't leave much for the white bugs to eat. Correct me if I'm wrong there, not too knowledgable about bugs. Have any links or anything that might be able to explain terrarium bugs?

If they were crickets, To help avoid that happening again, just put in as many as the white will eat in one night. I know it's harder than just buying a bag of crix at your local petstore and throwing them in, but you can keep the extra crickets in a rubbermaid with holes and some food in it.
