What kind of snake?

dzalesky Sep 05, 2004 09:48 PM

My husband recently saw a snake that he had never seen before and we are trying to find out what it was. We live in southwestern Nebraska. The snake was about 2 ft. long and solid brown in color with no markings at all. (My husband described the color as earth brown.) The area he saw it in was a windbreak planted with several rows of trees, surrouned by farm ground.

Without a picture, and with limited knowledge of nebraska snakes (and no motivation to look it up) I'd say a racer/coachwhip maybe? 2ft and brown doesn't narrow down the field much.

Sounds like it could be a couple of snakes. Follow the link to a site that should help you ID the snake.
