Need a Little Help

MissB Jun 25, 2003 05:00 PM

I have a ton of these little snakes in my backyard and want to make sure they are not poisonous. I found one and have been trying to use the internet to figure out what species the little guy is. I am almost certain they are DeKay's Brown Snake. He is light brown in color with a light stripe that goes down the length of his body; his under belly is almost white. Round pupils and I'm pretty sure he has keeled scales (I can see it on his larger scales). A black spot under his eyes, darker portion of scales on top of his head, and he is 12inch to 14inch in length. The only thing that I'm not sure of is that along with black spots that follow a stripe pattern (on either side of the light stripe on his back) but some white ones as well. I will get a picture soon and maybe that will help more. If you have any idea what kind of snake this is or need more info please reply. Thank You.
