Interaction between 2 BD's... question, plz help

funnyman527 Sep 06, 2004 02:55 AM

ok, so i have two female BD's (one 14 inches and fat, the other 12 inches and not fat yet) they're both kept in different cages, but within sight of eachother, so i constantly see them interacting via glass (both waving mostly), so i was wondering if i should attempt to allow direct interaction between the two BD's? b/c i eventually plan on moving the smaller BD into my bigger BD's cage (once it's much bigger of course) but i want my BD's used to eachother b4 i do this.

any suggestions???

I would not move them in together just yet. The smaller one really needs to catch up more to the larger one.

I would introduce them in neutral terrority with plenty of room for them to get away from each other.. such as your floor with a lot of wide open space. Keep a close eye on them. Even if they are docile for a few minutes they could just be sizing each other up and they can fight and cause injury very quickly.

Once they are the same size and you put them togethr I would put them in a neutral cage together at the same time (after they have been together before out in the open a few times). This gives them equal chance of picking spots they like instead of introducing one into anothers territory. It can help with aggression.

It is critical however u keep constant eye on them for a long time. They don't always accept living with other dragons especially after being raised alone for a long period of time. Some will take to it, some will not. just be careful.

how would i go about making a nuetral cage? does this mean i should make a whole other cage for the two of them to live in together? i was sorta planning on letting them both live in my larger ones cage (which is big enough for both dragons) wut do u suggest?

here's my current larger dragons cage set up ( if that helps any?)- should i redecorate the cage to make it seem new and nuetral to both dragons?

Yes, you should take the big dragon out and rearrange everything. Then you put the little one in first and let her explore and get her bearings. Then introduce the bigger one. This gets everyone off on an even footing.
