new collared

What a handsome lizard these guys are. Issey, I believe is a desert collared. Is that a bicinctores? He looks most like those posted on the forum. Are they born to become a certain coloration or does diet and light come into play. Can my collared eat grubs from the yard? We have lived here for twelve years and have never used any kind of pesticide or even fertilizer in this area of the yard. I am an avid gardener and am always finding grubs (japanese beetles, I believe) and earth worms in the soil.

Yes, a desert collared is a C. Bicinctores your right.

And they are born with that coloration and patteren, they are a distinct species.

They love crickets, moths, grasshoppers, beetles, and if he will eat your grubs, and they are safe from pesticides, go for it!

Post his pic for us when you can, gald to have you BOTH!
