i have my arg tegus in a substrate of calci-sand and cypress mulch ,they seem like they are a lil dry and dusty from the calc carb any thoughts ps they seem a lil streased and not the pigs im used to feeding thanks Chris

I would skip the sand and just use lots of cypress mulch. Either have a hide box with enough they can burrow in, or at least have plenty in the cage they can burrow under.

Tegus are fossiorial animals. (They love to dig) That means they need a substrate that holds a burrow and encrouages this activity. They also don't come from the desert so don't use sand. I use about a foot of top soil and some cypress mulch for my blue tegu and he is doing great.
