They can be switched to pinks. I have found on avg. younger broad bands are normally mild tempered (or at least better than most Nerodia). My first broad banded is living in a high school class and the kids regularly hold it. As for feeding them pinks, my method generally has worked everytime. I just get the snakes used to feeding in their water bowl. Eventually, I put a pink in the water bowl and the snakes go into the bowl. I just drag the mouse across their tail and this triggers their feeding response. Once you get them in feeding mode and they are in their bowl, then it is pretty easy to get them to eat just about anything. Good luck.
