Is my Anaconda Normal?

royalserpent85 Sep 06, 2004 03:59 PM

Well, my anaconda has always had a fast metabolism, but last week she surprised me yet again. I fed her about 10 medium rats, she hadn't eaten in about 2 months. Anyhow, the next day, she was already crapping out the calcium. Over the next two days, the rats were completely digested and she "expelled" them from her system. I've taken her to two different vets to check for parasites or womrs, because she burns off any food very fast, and she keeps the weight from mer meals for a good while, so I don't think it's unhealthy. Even my good friend who is a very experienced herper(He has raised two albino retics, aa blackhead python, and several other snakes) was confused. Plus, she has a great temperament she grows very quickly, but is there something I should know? Your opinions would be appreciated.

Maybe she was blocked up and needed a push from the front.

How rapid is she growing, and is the calcium elimination you are speaking of, the white urate deposits on the cage floor?

I was thinking the same thing as kelly...how did you know it was "crapping out the calcium?"

She left the yellowish white balls that smelled like snake urine. Then the next day, she left some more. She is growing pretty fast too which came as a shock to me. I keep her at around 80 degrees. I use mulch to keep a humidity of around 45%. is that too low?

Am I missing something in this thread? You stated yourself she is leaving urine deposites (white balls of urine). The "urine" is mostly solid with snakes. This is nothing new to you i am sure so I really don't uderstand the calcium thing. Do you mean there are lots of bones in the "crap?" I am a little confused

hmmm. I always thought that the white balls were calcium because when my snake pees it will be a yellow liquid. I can't believe I never knew that. :0 thanks for letting me know. and by rapid growth, I mean like growing almost 2 ft in 2 months. And She is only fed every 3 weeks as well, so I'm not power feeding.
