Amazon Tree Boa - new to Boas

Fullbodytwitch Sep 06, 2004 06:20 PM

Hello!
I am considering an ATB. If so it will be my first Boa. I keep New and Old world ratsnakes. I am very prepared when it comes to ATB's personality (that they are defensive and DO NOT like to be handled). I have read a few of the lower posts and have also done other research online. So I think I am comfortable with general care.

Is there anything else I need to know before I get one?
In the long run, I do hope to breed them, though for now, I was planning on picking up only one and if it goes well then another. Is there anything I should know about breeding them?

Also, I know the market is a little insane with the imports coming in and people selling for $20, but I hope that responsible herpers will be more likely to purchase CB. Does anyone have any first hand experience with wild caught? Alot of the caresheets online are towards wild caught.
I am looking forward to working with them, they are beautiful animals.

Thanks!
Miya

I dont have personal expereince with wc atb's but a friend of mine has...they are nasty and need alot of work...nasty meening probobly worse than you are thinking...she would get bit every time she was close enough.....i have a cb...and its not to bad...still bites. Get a cb and you will be alot better off...the prices are still pretty low on cb atb's
