I've got a hitch hicker

gibby6680 Sep 06, 2004 08:35 PM

I recently took a trip to Miami(barely got out of there before hurricane Francis arrived) and our hotel was literally crawling with mediterranean geckos. Well today I saw something crawling on my wall in my house and to my surprise it was a 2 in long gecko(I'm assuming it is a Mediterranean Gecko but not sure as I'm more into boids when it comes to herps). Good thing I only brought a carry on suitcase or the pour guy probably wouldn't have survived the trip all the way back to Tulsa, OK in the bottom of the plane. Well, now that I've got the guy in a deli cup on some moist paper towels I'm not sure what else to do with him. Could someone please give me some husbandry tips or a link to good site. I'd really like to do my best to make sure that this little hitch hiker makes it.

Put him in a 10 gallon or bigger(taller is better) with lots of fake plants and some corkbark or something. I use cyprus mulch as a substrate. feed medeum crickets and mist the cage daily. We have them everywhere here in texas, there are 9 that stay three to a window on (the outside of)every window in my computer room. they seem to be very tough little guys though I dont personaly keep them. I prefer to watch them for free on my window.
Hope I helped
Ryan
