Pacman frog passing out?

dtsdragon Sep 06, 2004 10:20 PM

Well I feed my pacman frog a firebellied toad a couple of weeks ago and after he sallowed it was like he died he wasnt breathing and nose was under the water in the water bowl so I took him out the water and the next morning he is hopping around. I heard a couple of days ago the ftb toxins arent very good. Does any one know where to get feeder frogs/toads not harmful for my pacman frog or feeder lizards house geckos or something thanks for the help in advance.

No disrespect...but what were you thinking? The red underside in an indicator that they are TOXIC. You are lucky it lived. You shouldn't be giving it feeder frogs anyway. Feed it crickets, nightcrawlers, and the occasional fish/mice if you care too. Supplement it with mealworms and waxies, along with other insects you can get. Feeding other frogs will just give your frog parasites.

That's right. I doubt that many people would even buy firebelly toads if they knew how toxic they can be. My boyfriend handled one awhile ago, and neglected to wash his hands afterward. he itched his eye, and the eye turned all red and stung for the whole night.
Definately, the frog is lucky to have lived through eating one of those things. But he's only lucky if he's not fed another one!

when I got my first pacman, I made the mistake of feeding it firebelly toads. the last meal it ate was 2 firebelly toads and the pacman died several days later. it was the best colored green pacman I've had and i regretted that. never feed firebellies to any animal.
