Introductions

Levine Sep 06, 2004 11:33 PM

Hello everyone,

I would just like to formally introduce myself to these forums. My name is Brad and I'm from Michigan. I have been on these forums for a while but never really gave an introduction. I have seen some amazing animals and have gotten a few very good ideas from these forums. These boards have a maturity and educational aspect that most internet message boards do not have. If you would introduce yourself as well I would appreciate it, if youre new to the site or a veteran.

Hey Brad. I'm Josh and I'm a student in Springfield, IL (live in the northwestern suburbs of Chicago). Hanging around these boards gave me the info and contacts to get my dreamsnake (an eastern indigo).

One female Eastern Indigo. That's right, just one snake. But she's my dream-snake, so back off man.

Oh yeah...here's a pick of the afore mentioned Eastern Indigo. Here names Lenore and she hatched on July 13th of this year. She's a little different from this picture (taken after hatching) - she's more robust now (gained the famed indigo feeding response recently) and is almost entirely black (except for a little bit under the chin).

He-he, I say the same thing ever time she pokes her head out of her hide. Still giddy over getting her and I don't think I'll ever recover.

Hey Brad, I am Frank and I have been involved with herps for many years (as amatuer and pro), as well as animal rescue. My pen name of course refers to Opistoglyphic snakes which are my main interest.

Hi, i'm Chris...another college student...been at UF and now i'm back at home at the community college (on my 5th major right now lol). been a poser here for about a year, in the snake section for about 4 months. Along with one of the reptile forums i've found that you can really get good help from, it's the only one i've found that actually has active posters, most messages are months old, up to a year or more old on the first page! lol.

and welcome

Hell Brad, my name Is Miller. I started using this forum regularly this year. I have been keeping snakes since I was old enough to catch and sneak them into my bedroom. I don't post advice because I feel like such a novice with all the expertise that can be found here. Welcome and hello to everyone else I have not had the pleasure of chatting with.

Hey Brad how ya doin!
My name is Brian and I have been frequenting these forums now for about 3 years. Love to go field herping and Colubrids are my favorite snake. Just about all NA kings, milks, rats, and racers. Met some great people on here and there are alot of knowledgeable people that frequent here! I live in KY and am a member of the KY herp society, and on our website we have a forum that is also nice and with some good links as well.

Here is my KY locale black rat snake. He is 3 years old and puppy tame.
Later on and happy herping!!

Hi, I'm Lora. I've been keeping snakes steady for the past 15 years or so and catching them all my life. I mainly keep colubrids and specialize in rat snakes. I've been on the forums for a couple years (just never thought that there were snake people out there on the internet before that). Glad you're enjoying the forums and most of the people around are willing to help you with questions, when you have them.

My name is Sean (I'm 15) and like everyone else on these forums, I love learning about reptiles and teaching others what I've learned. Over the past 5 years I've got some experience under my belt with alot of different species of lizards, snakes, and amphibians. Along with some hands on I read alot of books and articles on the internet, but still have alot of learning to do about the less common species.

I helped a local breeder for a couple years with his cornsnakes, kingsnakes, milksnakes, various ratsnakes, occasional boas, and a few pythons( anyone here know John Organiscak from Columbus Ohio?).

So far I've taught alot of boy scouts, cub scouts, and various people that wanted to learn about these amazing creatures.

Zoology is where I'm headed , Eventually I'd like to be able to work for the Columbus Zoo education department or ODNR.

Hi Brad! I'm known as Raven on most of the forums. I stumbled across the KS site back in '99 when looking for additional information on some Dumerils boas I'd just gotten. I've been keeping boas and pythons for about 13 years now, maybe a bit more, and have recently started branching out in my interests to include a multitude of species. The KS forums do offer a lot of good information and there's some great people out here. We have our 'special' moments, but you're right in that it isn't like some other boards I've visited.

Currently I have......

4.10 Bci (Colombian redtails of varying ages)
1.1 Dumerils boas
1.1 Cuban boas
2.1 Solomon Island ground boas
0.1 Santa Isabel ground boa
1.0 Colombian rainbow boa
1.0 Ball python
0.1 Burmese python (13 feet)
0.1 Albino burmese python (~5 feet)
1.0 Jungle X Coastal carpet python
0.1 Queensland Coastal carpet python
1.1 Snow corns
1.0 Normal phase corn
0.1 Hypo corn (sibling to the normal male)
0.0.1 Creamsicle corn
1.1 House cats (spoiled rotten! LOL)

It's a menagerie, but I like it.

Raven
