My night, road spotting trips aren't going so well so far, but I wont give up!
Here are a few guys I rescued from a wash in the mountains near my house. 2 Striped Racers, 1 Desert Horned Lizard, 1 Pacific (I think?), and 1 poor dead coachwhip.

Cool pics! That looks like a northern pacific to me, where about did you find it?
My last road cruise was unsuccessful. Sometimes you just dont see anything. It took me a long time to start finding good stuff. Just try new roads near the recommended roads, you will find stuff sooner or later if there are snakes in the area. Just remeber to look near dusk when the temp is about 65-80 degrees, and they will come!
Good luck!
Yea, I figured it was a Pacific(either Northern or Southern). I was leaning more towards Southern since I found him in the low foothills just west of Lytle Creek, and north of the 210 freeway.
I kept the DHL and the Striped Racers, but I think I'm gonna let the snakes go this weekend as its hard to feed them when the lizards become scarce in the coming winter months.
Maybe its just my timing. I dont usually get started until just after nightfall. (I'm notorius for being late at EVERYTHING!!)
in the future I'll try to get going a little earlier. For the next month or so I dont know how much time I'll have being that I just bought my first house and all! (Yay for me!!)
If anyone is ever in the area (Rancho Cucamonga area) and wants a Herping partner let me know. I'm eager to learn the tricks!!
