Warty Newt CageMate

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if there are any suitable cagemates for my warty newt? He is in a 12 gallon aquarium. His only cagemates are two red eyed tetras and a snail. Could he possibley live with a firebelly toad or newt?

Yeah, I know...but I've talked to people that put newts with newts. I didn't want to do it without asking...I never mix my frog species.
