Can she hold her eggs over the winter?

toitles Sep 07, 2004 08:51 AM

My eastern had five eggs that showed up on an x-ray. She's laid two, but has held the other three. Is it bad that it's early September and she still hasn't dropped them? Can she hold them until next year?

Her appetite is good and she's showing no signs of egg binding. Is this normal behavior?

How long ago was she X-rayed? What kind of substrate/bedding is she housed on? Did she lay the other two eggs on top of the soil, or did she dig a nest? Did she lay both the eggs at the same time, or one at a time? Is she housed alone or with other turtles? How large is her enclosure?
