f/t pinky on babies kenyan

Spate Sep 07, 2004 10:09 AM

Hi!
My female gave me 14 beautiful babies last week!
The problem (big surprise) is for feed them!
Do you think that it's possible to start them on frozen pinky, or it's just impossible and I should start them on live pinky and then, switch them on frozen??
I know that I don't try many times because they just born last week, but my temperature at days is correct, I feed them a f/t pinky in small container with beta chips.
I try chiken broth...no sucess
I think to put them in a very small container at night (near a heat pad because I heat them only with a light, but the temperature in my reptiles room don't drop to much) with a frozen pinky with the nose scratch.
It's my first time to breeding kenyan...thank you for help me!
bye

You can certainly keep trying f/t - until you're convinced that they won't take it (at least 3-4 weeks of trying after they shed). Im my experience with rosies and just a few sandboas, they much prefer live or fresh-kill to thawed. I had one baby Kenyan that took thawed for the first 5 or so meals and then stubbornly refused it for a month before I gave in and used a live mouse, which the snake took immediately. I have also heard of lizard scenting used for baby Kenyans.

Thank you very much
I apreciate this!
All of my babies had shed for the first time this week.
I'll try again f/t this week, if I have no sucess again, I'll try live pinky.
Thank you
