Where can I get Fleckstone (sp?) paint? Home Depot doesn't carry it.

It only comes in a spray canister. Make sure you're looking in the right part of Home Depot...

Look near the painting supplies in the hard ware section.. It was just sitting among all the other spray paint cans..

Not busting any or your chops, it's just the Walmart around here, in the ghetto it would seem, is a wreck! They leave full pallets in the isle, you can't get around them, and sometimes you have to shop from the pallet to find what you're looking for. I will say they do have the best prices though. Can't wait to leave this place.

Home depot carries it, but not under that name. Look at the Rust-Oleum textured paints, or the kits that come in the boxes. That's probably what you're looking for. The textured spray paints come in many different types of texture...and I think they actually carry a "fleckstone" kit thats made by rustoleum.

Buy two colors of oil base paint and one of latex. The colors should be those to give the final desired effect. DUH.lol

Apply the darker oil base to your surface first then mix the second oil base and the latex in the same canister. Don't worry they won't mix that well. Basically you'll get a marbley looking mixture. Apply this on top of the base coat, the latex will crackle and will give the fleckstone effect. This is especially effective if you have a sprayer but will work with brush on also.

What's at work here? Oil base paint will cover latex but not vice versa, the latex will crackle over oil base. When using the mixture (oil and water don't mix) the latex crackles and in doing so gives the desired texture and crackles the wet oil base that it is mixed with. You will have to occaisionally stir the mixture as the oil base will try to settle out of the mix.

If you want a 4 color effect you can use two mixtures of oil and latex. This has an even more realistic effect.

Hope this helps.
