Albino Argentines

marcantony Sep 07, 2004 03:35 PM

I'm not very familiar with the Albino Argentines currently being produced. Are these a "pure" strain of Argentine (from a naturally occurring albino Argentine), or have Argentines been outcrossed to another type of boa to get the albino gene into the species? Thanks for any information.

Well, there are two types. You can get Albino arg. x col. which are crosses. You can also purchase T Positive albino argentines which are PURE argentine boas. You should contact Brett Eby(Best Exotics), John Mack(Mack reptiles I THINK) he also has the motley argentines and T Pos. Motley argentines, Doug Matusak did have T pos. argentines as well(Boa Basement). I think T Positive albino argentines are 5,000-8,000 each this year. Hope this helps a little. Oh yeah, the crosses of "regular" albinos run 1200 ea. give or take, and can look quite nice, but they are crosses. Take care!

Thanks for the info. The place I was looking at them had them for $1000, so I'm sure they are crosses.
