ciliatus courtship

umop_apisdn Sep 07, 2004 07:30 PM

for some reason, i just heard a vocalization from one of my crested pairs, and went over to look. the male was following the female slowly, and i viewed the tail of the female twitching vigorously. is this a normal thing that anyone else has seen? i noticed him nipping her tail a little bit along with her flanks and such, im guessing this is normal courtship behavior, but this is my first go at breeding cresties.

Although im 13 i have seen many things involving the courtship of cresties. i dont breed them but i do happen to know of a few people who do in which i have witneced the mysterious behavior of courtship. Indeed the male shuld be following the female slowly and should be biting her in various places. usually the flanks and behind the nech region. as for the tail twitching, i have never witneced an act such as this however im asuming its 100% normal. as long as the courtship goes and their are no signs of stress or pain, then everything shuld be just fine. Please keep your outcome of the breeding posted
