She is gone

CrazyCodyKadunk Sep 07, 2004 08:46 PM

this morning i got up and found Anna had not eatten her fuzzy rat for the 2 week in a row. i took the fuzzy rat out and feed it to the afrock and left. when i got home today at 4 o'clock i saw annie had pooped in his cage so i took him out to clean it. i went to put him in a holding cage but it was dirty so i put him in my camping bag so i could wash the holding cage out. i took annie out the bag and in to the holding cage when i looked up into annas cage and saw she was not in her water. i took my keys out to unlock the cage when i saw i never put the lock back on. the cage was open just a tiny bit. i opend the cage took out the hide and no anna. i then ripped the room apart took the bed out the room every thing under it took out dressers and my other desk. i looked every where and gave my room a cleaning it badly needed but did not find anna. i thought she might have went in my camping bag being it was right next to her cage and annie could of eatten her but i was only gone a few seconds keeping my eye on annie the whole time i clean the holding tank. i tryed to get annie to throw up if he did eat her but no go with that. my room was closed and there is no way she could have gotton under the door. i set up a bunch of water dishes around to get her to come out. this is the first snake i have had get out since 94 and even then i found the snake a few hours after it got out. if u guys got any tips or maybe some kind of secret snake detector i could use to find her. i cant beleave this happend and i hope i find her alive.

Hey man I am sorry to hear that. It is one of the worst feelings there is. I know they like walls because I saw my girl go in and I though I would not see her after than because it is hard to find them by pounding holes in the walls...I did this and had some luck and got her out. I would not have tried to make her throw up because there is nothing you can do but risk losing another snake and it would be a waste of a meal. Byut I know you dont think rationally when you have a baby get out. Keep water around and maybe try a chick in one water dish.

I wouldn't worry too much, I have had a burm, and a not even one foot brazilian rainbow boa escape on me before. They usually turn up, no matter what. I thought my BRB was gone for sure, well for it's size first off, but it took almost 2 weeks before she showed up, just crawling down my floor, absolutly fine Just trust me, you might have torn the room apart, but she will be in the very last place you would expect her to be. BUT if you have a toilet, KEEP IT CLOSED. Because she could get into it and that's not good. Good luck!

` This has worked for me before.
` Set up one or two warm spots in the room. A cardboard box ( which doesn't have any smells about it that will repel the snake ) with a heating pad under it works great, too hot won't work. Put a towel or cloth inside. Cut a hole in the box so the snake can get into it easily. Lower the temperature in the room to the low 70s, or high 60s, no cooler. If you can put the snake's cage on the floor, with heat on, that will work, too.
` If you're sure the snake can't get out of the room, and there are no drains open, get out and stay out for a few hours. The more still, and quiet the house is, the more likely this will work.
` It's been a few years since I lost one. I know what a helpless feeling it is. If you create a lot of commotion tearing things up looking for the snake, the more likely it is not to come out soon. You've got to be as patient and still as a snake can be. It's not easy.

` Good Luck. Rich
