Hey man,
nice little HL. It looks fat
and happy. Where did you catch it?
If you're not sure its a DHL, knowing where its
from can be a big help. From a casual glance, It resembles a hatchling Coast Horned Lizard, but I haven't seen enough hatchlings of either DHL or CHL side by side, so I can't say for sure. Anyway it would be a good idea to find out, because CHLs are protected here in CA. Just a thought. Good luck with your new friend.

Yea, he eats well. A mix of ants, crickets, and mealworms. (mostly ants)
I caught him in the foothills of So. Cal near where the I-15 and 210 fwy meet. If anyone has any input about the species of this little guy, I would appreciate it. I definately dont want to keep him any longer if he's a CHL.

Help Please!!

This is a Coast Horned Lizard. It is from one of my monitoring sites in the Rancho Cucamonga area.
