weird behavior after feeding

spunky11 Sep 07, 2004 10:57 PM

my male ball python that i have had for 10 years ate a live rat as usual today. an hour or so later he began having these fits of strange contortions and mouth opening and closing lasting about 30 seconds each. he would have several in a row and then return to normal by curling up on his warmer. then a short while later he did it again. can anyone help me figure out what is wrong and what to do about it? thanks.

...these behaviors occur when the snake's jaw muscles and ligaments are repositioning after a meal. Nothing to worry about.
