GBK is getting darker and darker ... IMG ? (Pics)

Finnigan Sep 08, 2004 08:48 AM

Hi.

I have a roughly 2 year old gray banded kingsnake, and I have begun to notice that he is getting darker and darker. It is particularly noticeable in his red patches, which used to be bright and clearly defined. He used to be a typical Blair's phase. Now, as you can see, his red parts are rapidly changing to black. These pics were taken 4 days after a shed.

What do you think? Is this normal? I am relatively unfamiliar with GBK's since he's my only one, so any feedback would be appreciated.

Joel

This is very normal actually. Grey bands are variable. That is what makes them so neat. You never know how they will turn out. You can make a guess bases on the lineage, but that is about the best you can do.

Looks fat and healthy so I would be happy about that.

Take Care,

Steven
