Another hatchling question

imaturtlefan Sep 08, 2004 10:45 AM

My hatchling is 5 days old, I put 2 itty bitty crickets in there wiht it, should I remove them if he doesnt eat them? leave them in there and risk them biting him? or do they bite at that size? or take them back out and risk stressing the baby leo out from me messing in its home?

Only offer food after the first shed, which likely will occur 7-10 days after he hatched.

You also have to leave him alone a little bit. Every time you open his enclosure, put something in, take something out, look at him and pretty much pay him any sort of attention, you freak him out and scare him.

Make sure there are plenty of places to hide, that its nice and warm, and just leave him alone. Feed him after he sheds and pay him no attention except for feeding, water changes and cleaning. AFter a month or so, once he's eating well and adjusted, you can begin "playing" with him.
