Those are awesome Spilotes !

Are they of Mexican origin?
It's almost impossible to get Mexican Spilotes in the US.

Most here are from Guyana or Suriname

I really don't know their origin... sorry !

P.S. I've many Spilotes... some are more yellowish... others are almost totally black...

Congrats! I've had a male spilotes for about a month and will be getting a female next week. I hope to breed them in time. Do you have any sugestions?
Also, the male hasn't eaten since I bought him. It has struck and killed a rat crawler. The male is almost 7 feet long. What size prey should I use? The crawler seemed appropriate.

Again, congratulations on the babies. I don't see many births on the web pages.

I suggest to put the male with the female in winter.

At first you must check them for parasites (stool exam at microscope).

A 7 foot Spilotes should eat mouses (1-2 mouses for feeding session). Or chickens, or small rats or newborn rabbits....

Hope this helps...

Thanks, I'll try putting them together once I am sure they aren't carrying parasites.
