I have two male rats and three females. Seems like whenever I put a male in a tank alone with the female, they both just curl up together and sleep. I think that one of my females is pregnant now, and she is alone, but I'm not seeing any "action" frrom the other two females and their males.
Would it help if I seperated the sexes for a few days? Are they bored or something?

How old are the boys? They tend to get 'bored' around 8 months it seems. Separating them and then reintroducing them may elicite some action. I think this time of year all the beasties start to slow down. At least all mine do here in upstate NY. Shorter days, no sun....wait, that is the norm. But you get the gist.

Haven't we warned you about tampering with the structure of a chaotic system?

From my experiences, rats don't slow down for particular seasons, but if it's too warm in the room you're keeping your rats, that may be why there's no action. The male may be too old also. I replace my males every 6 months to keep production up.
