Lampropeltis mexicana

This snake is four years old, i've had it since it was a juvenile. Is this a standard San Luis Potosi? I was also wondering if it was possible to say whether this is a male or female based on the fact that it refused to eat last spring, and became very active. I know males exhibit this sort of behavior, but is it seen in females as well? Thanks.

That looks like a classic mex-mex to me. I don't think you can really determine sex accurately based on the info you have given. You need to have it probed. A lot of herp shops will do it for free.

Awesome snake,

Greg

That Mex Mex is just beautiful, and your's is the ideal looking specimen I'd love to have. I can't say enough on what a nice animal that is. Thanks for the photo.
