Racer diet

I recently caught a Black Racer, approx 2 3/4 ft. I've had it for just about a month now. He just shed yesterday and he ate two large lizards and a small Ring Neck today.
How often should they be fed?
Should I just keep a lizard in the cage?
Every time I've put a lizard in... he's eaten it. Is this normal or just a very hungry snake.

I feed my 4 foot black racer 2 frozen/thawed mice once a week
