My OuterBanks King just shed tonight so I couldn't help myself and snaped a couple of pics. Never dreamed this guy would develope speckling at such a young age down on the dorsal area.

Very nice ! As far as speckling goes some speckle faster than others. I had a juvenile look like an Eastern King till it was almost a year old then boom it speckled up incredibly fast over the next 3-4 sheds. While some start right away you just never know. They are awesome and underappreciated snakes to say the least.
I usually spend some time every year in coastal North Carolina as well as the Outer Banks area. I wasn't sure if the Outer Banks king was only limited to Ocracoke & Hatteras Islands or if they extended in other parts as well, like Kitty Hawk, Nags, Head, etc. As far as the coastal mainland of North Carolina, I have spent some time in Dare co. and it is just unreal the vast amount of habitat consisting of wetlands, canals, and forest in that area. Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge is a must for herps if your ever down there.
