does anyone know what this is? i found it at a lake in northern california folsom area i would also like some information on this species if its not to much. i plan to release it once i know what it is

It's definately some kind of Sceloporus. Most likey Sceloporus occidentalis, the western fence lizard. The only other possibility would be Sceloporus graciosus, the sagebrush lizard, but I think that Folsom is a bit out of its range.

Yes, I believe Alice is right, looks like a baby Western Fence Lizard to me.
Looks like a subadult female sceleptoporus occidentalis -- blue belly, or common western fence swift.
