I thought I'd ask the question here. Never once has my Sonoran Gopher hissed or struck at me till today. I'd just gotten outta the shower, put on DO, hairspray, perfume and such and then had to go check out my gopher (again). He had his head close to the top so he got a good whiff of me and instantly he started acting like I was his mortal enemy. I've never seen him soooooooo upset, hissing and striking and twisting his body all around rushing from one end of the cage to the other warding me off. I actually felt sorry for him. Do you think that it was the perfumes... esp since he was WC and wasn't brought up around such odors? Or that he was confused because I smelled different? Does anyone know what's going on?

Yeah, it might have been the perfume or one of the other things that you had freshly on. Snakes can be pretty sensitive to chemicles and one of thoste things, freshly applied, might have irritated him.

One female Eastern Indigo. That's right, just one snake. But she's my dream-snake, so back off man.

Yes... but they've always been there. One little dog.... and 9 other snakes. Mice in the other room. He didn't do it today in simular circumstances... minus all the perfume. Mmmmmm.

Well, you didn't mention whether or not you put you're clothes on before you approached his cage, perhaps he was shocked by you're nudity? Don't laugh, I did a similar thing with my pair of Northern Pacific Rattlesnakes, they always became quite outraged ai my appearance.

I have a few cats and if they have been even in the room my snakes can get very edgy. My snake room is off limits to cats but you know cats... if I even lift the door up for 1 minute 4 cats are in the room. They small the predator and get very defensive.

I really should drink some coffee before I start posting. I am usually not able to lift doors, so I open them. They dont small predators but rather they smell them.

Man ever have one of those days? I feel like an idiot lol... more than usual.
