provent-a-mite or black knight............

joshhutto Sep 09, 2004 12:57 AM

i've been keeping and breeding snakes for over 15 yrs and never had the first mite in my collection, until now. I know there are tons of home cures that have unknown long term side effects. i've read that alot of people have used black knight in the past but now can not find it. Is there a reason for it's disappearance? also has anyone used provent-a-mite? and if so how did it work for you. as of right now the mites are in a very low number, i've only found 2 on one snake but the other females were kept in the same bag durring transport. the animals are being quarentined to lower the risk of transfering the mites to the rest of my colony. any help will be appreciated. i do not want to use lice shampoo as the side effects are completely not known.

Black Knight was much better, by far, but is no longer available.. I would say Provent-A-Mite is next best.. I wouldn't waste my time with home cures..

For what it's worth. Throw black knight and prevent a mite away and just use NIX. Scroll down for more info.

I have been using Provent-a-Mite on all new animals in my store as a precaution. I have recieved many animals with mites, including iguanas, ball pythons, boas, corn snakes, yadda yadda. I have never had to use Provent-a-Mite more than once on the same animal. works the first time.

Joe

p.s. I have never used Black Knight, so I'm kinda biased.
